<strong>Sandbach United -Yesterday evening Sensible Soccer coaches Mike Phelan and Dave Horrocks delivered a masterclass at Sandbach. The players were a mix of under 14s and 12s.</strong> The session started with a short ten minute match specific warm up featuring countless ball touches and personal defensive / attacking reactionary scenarios with all 16 players constantly involved. This was followed by the main focus of the evening, ball handling, counter attacking play and shooting. Needless to say the two goalkeepers got the workout of their lives over the 90 minutes of activities. The evening concluded with a clubhouse Q and A where coaches players and parents took advantage of the unique opportunity to probe the mind of Sir Alex Ferguson's former assistant. Apart from the light hearted explanation of the now world famous balloon incident (<a href="https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JmP6PpWNwOE">Click here to view</a>) the young players and aspiring coaches were given a first hand insight into the world of Premier and European Champions League football. Ronaldo and relentless dedication, Paul Scholes and precision, Gary Neville and professionalism were all on the agenda in the hour long insight into the development and careers of these world class players. Sandbach United Football Development Officer, Darren Williams, expressed his thanks on behalf of the club, coaches and parents present for what was ultimately an enjoyable evening for both Sensible Soccer and all those there on the day.
